In 2011 Hogan launched the world’s most representative and diverse working adult normative sample. Known as Hogan’s Global Norm, it quickly became the industry standard and allowed for true global assessment comparisons.
Since introducing the Global Norm, Hogan has assessed millions of working adults. With commitment to providing the most well-constructed, state-of-the-art measurements, Hogan is pleased to announce an update to their Global Norm.
Starting January 2nd, 2019 the Hogan Global Norm will be updated to represent 171,132 working adults from 180 countries and 46 languages. For those interested in learning more, a detailed technical report will be uploaded alongside other technical manuals to the Hogan administrative portal (HALO) once the update is complete, or contact your PBC client manager for more information.
If you currently use the Global Norm, no additional action is necessary on your part. On January 2nd, 2019 this update will happen automatically, and all participant reports generated with Hogan’s Global Norm will enjoy the update.
If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the Global Norm update, please contact your PBC client manager.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Will the updated Global Norm produce shifts in scores?
The updated Global Norm will include minimal shifts in assessment scores with most scales shifting less than 5 percentile points. And, nearly 90% of all scale scores will fall in the same interpretation range; high scores will remain high scores and low scores will remain low scores.
How do I know what Norm I am currently using?
When administering assessments, a norm must be selected before a participant report can be generated. As a result, you can look up which norms were used to score a participant in the Hogan administrative portal, HALO. For any assistance with HALO settings, please contact your PBC client manager or hoganorders@peterberry.com.au.
Should I be using Hogan’s Global Norm and/or what Norm set is right for me?
Please contact your PBC client manager for consultation around best practices.
How can Hogan help my organisation through this transition?
Hogan’s Data Analytics team has been actively reviewing their off-the-shelf selection reports (e.g. Express, Leader BASIS) and client-specific profiles to make any necessary adjustments. If you currently have an assessment project that started in 2018 and will continue into 2019, our team is ready to work with you on any questions you may have.
